Creating and Maintaining an Innocence Organization

Location: Nautilus 2
Date: Fri, March 24
Time: 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM

This session is designed to assist attendees in understanding how to start or grow an innocence organization. The discussion will be moderated by the director of the Innocence Network Support Unit, and the panel will include Network members who represent different organizational structures: a free-standing nonprofit organization, a public defender's office, and a law school-based effort with a clinical program. Information about the initial creation of an innocence organization, the key questions to consider before selecting a structure, and the administrative and financial necessities for commencing or sustaining a successful effort will be provided. The panel will also outline the membership criteria and application process for organizations that wish to join the Innocence Network.
