In this session, the Innocence Project's Policy Department will share resources that it can provide to Network members engaging in policy advocacy. From understanding the legislative process and policy drafting and analysi, to crafting effective talking points and testimony and involving clients/exonerees in policy advocacy, the department will share tools to create lasting and impactful policy campaigns. The session will also explore other resources and technical assistance the Policy Department can offer Network members, including crafting state-specific campaign plans, planning academic or policymaker symposia, executing law enforcement trainings, and supplying communications support. The Policy Department will present these resources to the group and also solicit feedback from Network partners as to how the Department can be most useful for them. Additionally, a portion of the session will be devoted to consulting with Network partners on current and future campaigns.
