Lonnie Soury is an expert on media and the law, having collaborated on many high profile legal cases. Mr. Soury led the public campaign to free Martin Tankleff, who was wrongfully convicted for the murder of his parents and imprisoned for 18 years. Mr. Soury also helped lead the effort to free Damien Echols, who was released from death row in the West Memphis Three case. Mr. Soury recently founded FalseConfessions.org, a nonprofit organization and website dedicated to raising awareness of the incidence of false confessions leading to wrongful convictions and highlighting current cases. He is co-founder of Families of the Wrongfully Convicted, a group that advocates for police reforms to prevent wrongful convictions.
