Nikki Trautman Baszynski


Nikki Trautman Baszynski is an assistant state public defender in the Ohio Public Defender Appeals and Post-Conviction Section and the founding co-chair of its Racial Justice Initiative. Her work in the Initiative has centered on the criminalization of poverty, relationship-building with community members, and municipal-court reform. Prior to joining OPD, Ms. Baszynski served as the inaugural Greif Fellow in Juvenile Human Trafficking at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. She also founded SPEAK, an award-winning, student-driven dispute resolution system designed to foster difficult conversations that address systemic discrimination within educational settings.
