Patricia Cummings is the Special Fields Bureau Chief and supervises the Conviction Integrity Unît (CIU) of the Dallas County District Attorney's Office. The ClU has been responsible for exonerations in Dallas County since its establishment in 2007. Patricia has practiced criminal law for almost 25 years. She began her career as a briefing attorney for the Eighth District Court of Appeals with plans to use the appellate experience as a foundation for pursuing a career in criminal trial. After leaving the court, she then went to work for the Williamson County Attorney's Office in Georgetown as the County Juvenile Prosecutor. Patricia transitioned into prívate practice where she focused her attention on criminal and juvenile defense. From 2002 to 2014, she taught at the Criminal Defense Clinic at the University of Texas, School of Law. During her career, Patricia has actively served both the bar and community.
