Raquel Cohen is a staff attorney and the pro bono coordinator with the California Innocence Project. She is the Project's arson expert and is responsible for all litigation, investigation, and review of arson cases in southern California. Raquel has been in active litigation on a number of arson cases and has worked with a number of experts in the arson science field, including Paul Bieber, her co-presenter. Her most recent arson case deals with a wrongful conviction supported by a problematic and outdated fire investigation from the late 1980's. Raquel has also played an integral role in securing inmates’ freedom through various habeas proceedings and parole hearings. In November 2015, Raquel proved Luis Vargas's innocence through DNA testing.
