Shawn Armbrust has been the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project (MAIP) since 2005. During her tenure, MAIP has freed 18 innocent people and helped secure the passage of several laws to help prevent or correct wrongful convictions. Before joining MAIP, she clerked for Judge Gladys Kessler of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Prior to law school, she was the case coordinator at the Center on Wrongful Convictions. Shawn graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and with honors from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She served as Chair of the Network Victims Committee.
